My Brothers Keeper Baton Rouge (MBK BR) exists to ensure the safety, well-being, and success of boys and young men of color in Baton Rouge.
My Brother’s Keeper was launched in February 2014 by former President Obama in response to the persistent opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color across our nation. Many cities, towns, and tribal governments have risen to the call to action as local MBK chapters to ensure all young people can reach their full potential.
In April 2021, Mayor Sharon-Weston Broome and local community champions accepted the MBK challenge and committed to launching the Baton Rouge Chapter of MBK.
My Brothers Keeper Baton Rouge (MBK BR) exists to ensure the safety, well-being, and success of boys and young men of color in Baton Rouge. We do this by convening and coordinating the efforts of key stakeholders and implementing promising practices. In addition, we identify policies and practices that serve as barriers and advocate for these things to change.
MBK BR does not seek to create yet another organization in order to address our city's challenges, but rather to
coalesce and
amplify
our community's existing assets collaboratively and collectively. This work does not happen without you. Together, we can and will improve life outcomes for boys and young men of color across our city.
