Member Services Coordinator
Location: Dow Westside YMCA
Employment: Full-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt
Salary: $14-$16/hour, depending on experience
The YMCA of the Capital Area is looking for a mission-driven, growth-oriented individual to serve as Member Services Coordinator at the Dow Westside YMCA in Addis, LA.
Under the direction of the Operations Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, this position is responsible for the overall operations of the membership and wellness departments. This role requires flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends, as necessary.
Essential Functions:
· Responsible for meeting and greeting all members and guests of the YMCA upon entering the facility or calling via telephone.
· Responsible for the supervision of the membership and wellness departments. This includes supervision and scheduling of staff and completing payroll for direct reports.
· Schedule and supervise the group exercise classes.
· Develop, plan, and implement new programming in the wellness department.
· Coordinate Fit Path appointments.
· Assist in overseeing the membership department to ensure effective communication both internally and externally to maintain professional image when Operations Director is not available.
· Coordinate with the Operations Director over all activities for the front desk staff, including assisting with training of front desk staff.
· Serve as a central clearing house of information around member services, directing individuals to the proper contact person of information if you are unable to provide.
· Ensure proper information on membership and programs is provided to the member.
· Ensure accurate data entry of member information and daily shift report.
· Completely and thoroughly follow the opening/closing procedure, observing all aspects of atmosphere, climate, cleanliness, maintenance and security in the process.
· Refuse to allow unauthorized entry into the YMCA by non-members.
· Maintain appropriate control and security over keys, locks, money and property during shift.
· Perform as an effective member of the staff team.
· Abide by written and understood procedures and policies of the YMCA.
· Maintain all membership service information, updating all forms, manuals and charts as necessary.
· Responsible for the proper use of all Wellness Center equipment and the health and safety of all persons using the Wellness Center.
· In association with Operations Director, ensure proper implementation of wellness procedures, including all personal training programs.
· Assist with new staff onboarding training.
· Lead scheduled group exercise classes as necessary.
· Provide personal training lessons to registered participants as necessary.
· Routinely clean and sanitize facilities, equipment and supplies.
· Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervisor.
The Member Services Coordinator position prefers a two year degree. Experience in fitness management and programming is also preferred. Microsoft Office proficiency is required; SGA software experience a plus. He/she must obtain CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen Administration within 30 days of hire. Current YMCA Fitness Trainings or Nationally Accredited Personal Training Certification is preferred.
As a full-time/hourly/non-exempt position, the Member Services Coordinator is required to be available during hours of programming and may include nights and weekends as needed.

Extended Day Counselor-A. C. Lewis YMCA
The YMCA of the Capital Area seeks Extended Day Counselors at select school sites in East Baton Rouge Parish: Broadmoor Elementary School, Wildwood Elementary School, Riveroaks Elementary School, LaSalle Elementary School and Kenilworth Science & Technology Academy.
Some school sites may require additional hours for early dismissals at the school. This position will assist in the care taking and supervision of youth placed in YMCA care before and after the school day during the 2026-2027 school year at the school sites.
The counselor will assist students with homework and provide fun hands-on and recreational activities for the students.
Must be able to work: Mon-Fri, hours of 6:20 a.m.-7:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for Kenilworth Science & Technology Academy
Mon-Fri, hours of 2:15 p.m. -5:30 p.m. for
Glasgow Middle School
Mon-Fri, hours of 6:50 a.m. - 8:05 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. for all other sites.
Knowledge & experience working with youth and children from ages 4-13 preferred; experience working in a structured youth program preferred; experience providing tutorial care and recreational activities to youth is preferred. Must pass drug screen and b/g check. Starting pay is $15/hour.

This position will assist in the care taking and supervision of youth placed in YMCA care after the school day during the 2026-2027 school year. The program will be held onsite at Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery School (BROD), located at 17255 S Harrells Ferry Rd., Baton Rouge, LA 70816

Must be able to work Mon-Fri, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Knowledge & experience working with youth and children from ages 4-13 preferred; experience working in a structured youth program preferred; experience providing tutorial care and recreational activities to youth is preferred. Must pass drug screen and b/g check. Starting pay is $10/hour for positions at Dow Westside YMCA and $12/hour for positions at Caneview K-8 School.
