The YMCA believes we all need a place to belong -- a place where we genuinely care about one another, share in decisions, treat each other with respect and pull together for a common cause. Y's bring together people from different walks of life in an environment where they all can feel comfortable. They are natural incubators for ideas to help solve community problems. They get things done by working with other neighborhood groups and organizations.
The YMCA of the Capital Area goes out in the community three times a week to serve homeless individuals in the streets of Baton Rouge. We are assisting them by providing clothing, food and toiletry items, while developing a relationships. There are approximately 800 homeless in Baton Rouge. We are in great need of donations and we are currently acceptig clothing, non-perishable food items, and toiletries. These items can be dropped off during business hours at any of the eight area locations of the YMCA.
To donate items to our Homeless Outreach programs contact your local YMCA or Rev. Joseph Moore at (225) 284-5746 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
